Water, water ………
Every year before the onset of the reainy season there are water shortages in Hartbeespoort like in so many other parts of the country. One way to relieve the situation is to harvest rainwater. This is about a campaign to do exactly that.

Vryheid van die Pers
Ek het hierdie redaksionele kommentaar vir Kormorant van 16 September geskryf na aanleiding van die konferensie van gemeenskapsjoernaliste in Ladybrand waar die onderwerp druk bespreek is. Die voorstanders van die maatreëls teen die media verkeer blykbaar onder indruk dat media iets is wat van buite op die gemeenskap afgedwing word, terwyl dit inderdaad deel is van die gemeenskap en bloot die manifestasie van die gemeenskap se reg op vrye uitdrukking is.

Mountain under siege
Unscrupulous developers are taking advantage of the laxity of the authorities to prosecute offenders of environmental legislation in the Magaliesberg – one of the most threatened mountain ranges in the country. They know they won’t be forced to undo the damage they have done. They apply the philosophy of; “It is better to ask forgiveness than to ask permission” as they usually get away with the argument that too much money has already been invested and that they provide employment. The Magaliesberg Protection Association needs support and money to combat this evil.
